It proved to be another satisfying day, today, May 11th, at Morton Stadium for Clonliffe Harriers at Dublin graded meet number 2, which also included a number of Dublin championship events. Eoin Sheridan was the class of the field in the discus winning the Dublin championship with a best of 53.92, which he achieved in round 4. In the javelin, which was also the Dublin Championships, Euan Canniffe took 2nd place and Dublin silver with a best throw of 47.23, in round 6. Conor Tynan finished 4th with a best of 38.44, Stephen Bailey was 6th (36.41) and Nikita Karpej was 8th (34.48). Mia Marie Primke in the women’s javelin was top Dublin athlete winning the Dublin title with a best throw of 33.93, finishing 2nd overall with Maeve Forde finishing in 5th place (19.81). Hugely impressive to have 6 Clonliffe javelin throwers competing today.


The 1500s once again had great Clonliffe representation. Ed Tottenham successfully retained his Dublin title, as he finished 2nd, 1st Dublin, in grade A in a time of 3.58.91, Oren Kenny ran 4.03.23 to secure Dublin bronze. Grade C once again saw a great inter Clonliffe battle where Malcolm Kiplagat made it 2 wins on the bounce as he ran away from the field to win in a time of 4.17.62. 2nd place went to Ian McAweeney (4.24.25) with Eddie Blaque 4th (4.30.05). In grade D Joshua Chalmers finished 2nd (4.41.05) and then in the 2nd grade D race it was a win for a Niall Sherlock (4.23.74), Maxime Bernard was 6th (4.39.40) and in 15th Ben Power with a 9 second PB of 5.11.19.

PB’s were also the order of the day in the women’s 1500. Niamh Kelly took the Dublin title, 3rd overall, with a new PB of 4.34.00. . Grade C was a resumption of the battle of the Jesses, however this time it was Jess Gallagher who turned the tables on Jess Laflamme Yonkman taking 2nd place in a PB of 5.02.24 with the Canadian 3rd 5.02.36. Sarah Doherty took 5th place (5.11.45) with Katie Halpin 6th (5.15.39). Grade D saw Aisling Andrews finish in 2nd place (5.30.12), Rachel Ardiff was 4th (5.40.29) and Paige Elliott 6th (5.51.71).

Earlier in the morning Mya O’Reilly took Dublin 5000 silver (21.12.20).
In the 200 Craig Duffy took Dublin bronze with a PB of 21.81. Evan Storey clocked 23.49 in grade C and in the 2nd series took 1st place in a time of 23.58. Snezana Bechtina ran 26.73 in placing 5th in round 1 and in round 2 she was 3rd in 26.96.
So a good day for the Clonliffe crew, 4 Dublin gold, 2 silvers and 2 bronze. The next graded meet is in Tallaght on Wednesday, May 21, on the cards that night is the Dublin 400 and 10,000 championship, graded Miles and the hammer.
