The Fit4life @ Clonliffe group marked its one-year anniversary with a 5km handicap run in Santry Demesne this evening, this also being the halfway point of our current training block, offering participants a chance to gauge their progress.

On a cracking summers evening, 21 contestants took to the start line, and were ably set on their way by Ben Power. After three laps, it came down to a closing straight finish, with a gutsy effort from Eavan Muldoon up the hill just about reeling in our previous winner Nosi Mjiyakho to claim the victory. Two evenly paced runs from Clara Feeny and Seamus McMahon, saw them battle it out for the third-place spot, with Clara just edging it. Good efforts from the rest of the group saw them follow the top three home closely. A big thanks to the photography, on course support and post run snacks provided by our injured and ex-fit4life clubmates.

Clonliffe Club President Mick Kearney was on hand to do the post-race prize giving, remarking how much the group has been an addition to the club. We continue with the second half of our training block over the remainder of the summer, and it remains open to any new joiners and all range of abilities. So, if you know of anyone one who might be interested, please let them know about Fit4life @ Clonliffe.
