Day 1 and 2 of the Juvenile National Championships have got off to a spectacular start. The weather offered, sun, torrential down pours, a bit of something for everyone but awful competition weather for some.
The headline has to be U13 Boy, Rhys Daly who was crowned National Champion with his jump of 4.83. His opening jump of 4.80 stated his firm intentions. Jumping shorter distances in the next 4 jumps, his 6th and final Jump of 4.83 confirmed his 1st place position that he had taken from Jump 1..an undisputed champion. Channing O’Shea in the same event finishes a commendable 8th position with his jump.of 4.38.
Staying with the U13s Issac O’Neill finished 2nd in the 3rd heat of the 80m sprint securing the Q to the Final. He finished 6th in the final in 11.11.
Maeva Edo Czechowska won heat 3 of the U13 girls 80m in 11.00 , straight to the Final. She finished 8th in 11.18
In the U14 Boys Long Jump, Andrew Low finished 5th with a jump of 4.81.
U14 Girls Discuss- Hannah Ni Mhuircheartaigh, who has recently taken up this event finished 5th with a fine throw of 22.50
In the U15 Boys High Jump Eoghan Thompson finished 16th with a jump of 1.40
U17 Boys – Mathew Keogh finished 3rd in his heat of the 100m in 11.86 narrowly missing a place in the final

In the U19 Boys 3000m, Aidan Benjacar finished 8th in 9.17.98
On Day 2, the weather was somewhat better though Hot and sticky was the serving for the day, and not to mention 3 Bronze medals!!

Starting with U17 Girls 2000m S/C Sophie Kernan took a Bronze National Medal in the most grueling event, showing guts and stamina. Very well deserved for her and the hard work she has put into this event this year. Well done Sophie.
Braxton O’Shea also took a bronze in the 800m U15 Boys – see below.
James Lynch took a bronze in the U18 110mH in a time of 14.83 – well done James, a nice medal to add to the collection.
U13 Boys 600m – Issac O’Neill finished 12th in 1.43.21 and spiked legs in this competitive rough race. In the U13 boys 60mH, Channing O’Shea finished 5th in heat 1 with Isaac finishing 4th in heat, unfortunately neither progressing to the finals. Well worth mentioning the talent both Boys have displayed in this technical event with signs of good days ahead as they fine tune this skill.
In the U13 Girls 60mH Maeva Edo Czechowska came 2nd in her heat in 10.61 achieving a place in the National Final. She finished an impressive 4th in 10.21.
Maeva also finished 4th in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.55. Unlucky to finish 4th in both events today but no doubt that medal is within touching distance with her talent. Considering she is not even doing athletics 12 months, she has some very exciting days ahead.
In the U13 High Jump Mila Webb finished 16th with a jump of 1.25. Mila has only started doing the High Jump and to make it to a National Championships is no mean feat. It will be interesting to see what she can do in the Indoors

The U15 Boys 800m was a straight final. It was anyone’s race from the start with Braxton O’Shea and Conor Kenny getting well into the mix for medal position. Braxton ran a very mature race keeping the cool with 300 to go where he held position to 120. He turned the heat up to take an impressive 3rd. Conor also ran an brilliant race and was unlucky to get boxed in. A fine performance from him gave him a 7th place finish and a pb.
In the U15 Girls Javelin Ava Cosgrave embraced her first Nationals with an 11th place finish of 21.74
In the U16 Boys Discuss Jack Moyles finished 6th with a throw of 34.74. He finished 11th in the Shot with a throw of 10.46. In the same event Caelan Doggett Finne finished 14th.
In the U17 Boys 800m, Edy Blaque ran in heat two. A very competitive race he was unlucky to get boxed in, squeezing him out of the qualification to the final with a 7th place finish. Lots more to come from Edy.
In the U18 Girls 800m Rachel Ardiff ran a gutsy race finishing 10th place in her first National Championships.
In the U18 Boys 2000m SC Liam Arthur ran a good race with clean jumps to battle to the line achieving 5th place, in a tight finish.
