Rooney & Co., bag Dublin 5 mile championship, plus round up

The Dublin 5 mile championship took place today incorporated into the Lucan Harriers 5 mile. The Clonliffe men’s team was dominant, led home in 1st place by Colm Rooney in an impressive 24.09. Clonliffe athletes then filled positions 5, 6 and 7; Sean O’Leary 5th (25.23), Stephen Cashin 6th (25.49) and Cathal McHale 7th, and 1st M35, (26.03), with the championship being decided on the base of cumulative time, the Clonliffe men had a winning margin of in excess of 8 minutes.

The men, scoring 3 of Colm, Sean & Stephen, also took the open team prize. Conor firzpatrick made a fine debut in the Clonliffe vest finishing 10th in 27.31. Also good to see Eoin Keating back racing after a long term injury absence.

Saturday, the 6th, prolific marathon runner Anne Lyons ran the Dingle marathon clocking a time of 3.57.07, impressive for this notoriously tough marathon, Anne was 2nd W55. Brid Beausang ran the Dingle half marathon in a time of 2.00.14 and Sean Grimes ran 1.42.01, 6th M60.

Also yesterday at the Ireland West 3/4 Marathon Mark Boyd 24th in 2.23.49 with Dara Peyton 50th (2.33.25).
