The AAI Indoor Games at the NIA, Abbottstown today saw Clonliffe athletes produced some excellent performances with wins and PBs bagged.
The action got underway bright and early with the 60s where Mark Murray ran 7.40 in series 1 and equalled that time in series 2. Adam Festus 7.38 in series 1 and 7.30 in series 2. Mark Murray also won his 200, in the afternoon, in a time of 23.42. In the 400 making his debut for Clonliffe Harriers was Finlay McGill who won his 400 in 49.96. Later in the afternoon Finlay clocked a 200 indoor PB of 22.48 was finishing 2nd in his race.
In field events there was a double for Niall Allen winning the shot with a best of 11.07m and then the WFD (6.55m) Andrej Dmitrenko took 3rd place in the pole vault (3.40m).
Niamh Kelly took 3rd place in the 800 (2.14.23). Sean Carrigg battled all the way to the line to grab 2nd place in the men’s 800 in 1.55.57, only a fraction away from his PB recorded as recently as Wednesday evening. Damien Prendergast took a fine win in heat 3 in a time of 2.01.08. Fintan Kerins was 3rd in the 1500 in a time of 4.00.25.
The 3000 men’s race great Clonliffe interest with Colm Rooney once again impressing as he took 2nd place in a time of 8.15.42. Tom Breslin was 6th in a PB of 8.32.82 with Malcom Kiplagat 11th in 9.08.94 an indoor PB. Jack Quinn took 6th place in heat 2 with a new PB of 9.24.46.
