Clonliffe Harriers embraced the women in sports week 2026 as the club got behind our female athletes across all age groups. All week the club’s website has featured testimonials about some of our most inspiring female athletes and eagle eyed readers may have noted that the slides on our homepage all week comprised only of our female athletes.
The week of course got off to a perfect start on March 1 as Hannah Segrave became Clonliffe Harriers first ever woman to win a national senior indoor title, indeed Hannah provided the sole Clonliffe Harriers win at the 2026 national indoors.
Undoubtedly the highlight of the week was the Clonliffe women in sport track night on Thursday as some 100 athletes took part in racing across a range of distances from 100 up to 2000, with a very nice social get-together in the clubhouse after the event.
Women’s Support Officer, Sarah Bateson summed up the week saying: “This was a great week to show off the exceptional women in our club. The success and camaraderie of our athletes is year round and for that and this week can I say thanks for the support from all of our coaches and committee members. It may only be 63 years of the Women’s section in the club, but the impact is forever lasting.
I would like to thank everyone who made this week possible, the race officials, athletes, trackside supporters, coaches and to Stephen Bateson for sponsoring the Women’s Race.”
