Eugenia Bateson reports: Three days of Cross Country at the Phoenix Park saw Clonliffe Athletes represent their school in the Regional qualifying rounds.
Day 3, after 2 days of racing and heavy rain was our most impressive day.
Dominance in the North Leinster Junior Boys by the next branch of Fogos Army saw Braxton O’Shea take the title. Luke Tracey was 2nd leading his team to Gold, Mark Kelly ran a fine 5th all securing places to the Leinsters. Daire Cronin finished 16th, Joel Thomas 20th position helped his team to Silver and Ollie Galvin finished 21st.
Equally in the Inter Girls the Clonliffe girls showed their form with Kate Gill finishing 8th leading her team to Gold. Notably this team where last years National Champions. Sophie Kernan finished 9th and Ayana O’Callaghan’s’ 10th lead her team to Silver. Geve Duncan finished 30th and Ella O’Sullivan’s 40th place was part of the Team Gold
In the Minor Boys race Seamus Phelan finished 8th, Andrew Low finished 10th, with Max Bamford also qualifying for Leinsters in 14th. Darragh Kidd finished 29th and Adam Phelan finished 43rd.
In the Junior Girls, Carragh Nighfloinn finished 8th and Ailbhe Clerkins 11th place finish lead her team to Gold. Sophia Tennant finished 16th.
In the Inter Boys, Joshua Chalmers finished an impressive 5th. Conor Kenny finished 11th. Dominic Vaitulionis 22nd place was part of the Team Gold. Hayden Kenny finished 31st and Darragh Nicholson Canny finished 36th
Mya O’Reilly finished 9th in the Senior Girls. Rachel Ardiff’s 12th place was part of the Team gold and Mae Rose Masons 15th place qualifies her for the Leinsters Championships.
In the Senior Boys Liam Arthur finished 9th, Jack Quinn 21st and Dev Kartha finished 70th.
On Day One, Nessa Byrne finished 18th in the Junior Girls and Team Silver. Cormac Tynan finished 19th in the Inter Boys. In the Senior Girls a very impressive run from Isla Duncan saw her take silver individual medal with Hannah Walsh finishing 15th and Team Silver.
In West Leinsters Ryan Fagan was our only athlete and despite still in his first year with the club narrowly missed qualification finishing 18th.
