Clonliffe at last night of the T&F NIA Series

The curtain came down on the Track & Field NIA Series in Abbottstown last night with a sprinkling of Clonliffe athletes taking part and performing well. In the senior program there was a double Clonliffe win in the 800s: Alannah Cooley won her heat in a time of 2.20.53, her 1st track race since last summer. Niamh Kelly continued her good form this season winning her heat in 2.12.60. In the final race of the evening Laura Tuite ran a 6 second mile PB as she clocked a time of 5.11.27 in placing 2nd.

In the senior sprints Niamh Tenanty was 3rd in her race in series 1 (8.55) and was also 3rd in series 2 (8.60). Snezana Bechtina was 4th in her 60 (8.64) and Thomas Moran 5th in his 60 (7.57).

The programme also included some Irish Masters relay team races. Edel Maguire was on the 4 x 200 mixed 65 team that narrowly missed their records chase clocking 2.00.98. Chris Sibanda was on the mixed 35 4 x 200 that also missed out as they clocked 1.42.56.

In the juvenile programme Daire Cronin finished 2nd in the U/16 boys 800 in a PB of 2.10.53. In the U/14 girls 800, in race 1 Adrianna Madrzynska took 5th position in 2.39.22, having previously taken 1st in the 60 in 8.96 . In the 800 race 2 Ava Fagan was 5th (2.32.87) with Lucy Fagan 9th (2.44.84). Max Bamford was 3rd in the boys U/14 60 (8.83).

Next up on the indoor front is the national U/20 and U/23 Championships on March 14 with the national Masters indoors the following day (entry for these championships is currently open but closing on March 8). Finally there is the national juvenile Championships taking place over 3 days: March 28 and 29th and April 11.
