The National Spring throws competition took place in Tullamore today in pretty trying conditions for the throwers who were treated to blustery conditions. Several of the clubs athletes were competing at both under age and in the senior competition. Jaheim Humphrey was once again impressive winning the combined U/17 and U/18 shot (5 KG) with a best of 15.69 and later in the programme finished 2nd in the discus (1.5 KG) with a best of 47.89.
Great to report that there were 3 U/16 girls competing in the javelin (500 G), Savannah O’Neill finished 12th overall with a best of 22.92, 14th was Ava Cosgrave (20.58) and in 15th Eleanor Fanning (19.98). This was a combined age group but isolating the U/16s the girls finished 2nd 3rd and 4th respectively.
Grace Casey got her season underway winning the senior javelin (600g) with a best throw of 45.22.
There was also a win in the senior discus (2 KG) by Eoin Sheridan in his final throw, which was preceded by 3 N/T, as he recorded a 53.03 effort.
