Sarah Bateson reports: Day 2 of the Dublin Juvenile Indoors on Saturday Jan. 31st saw another full programme of action with strong performances across sprints, distance and field events. There were excellent
podium finishes, narrowly missed medals and plenty of promising performances from athletes
right through the age groups.

U12 Boys 60m
In the heats, Alex Ryan finished 3rd in Heat 1 in 9.25 to qualify for the semi-final, while Patrick
Fogarty took 2nd in Heat 3 in 10.00. In the semi-final, Alex improved again to 9.22, finishing 6th
in Heat 2 and just missing out on a place in the final.
U13 Boys 60m
Joshua Conaghan qualified from Heat 1 with a 2nd place finish in 9.17. Lenny Keane Flannery
also secured qualification, finishing 2nd in Heat 8 in 9.13. Strong heat runs also came from
James Glynn (2nd in Heat 7 in 9.39, narrowly missing qualification), Ben McHugh (5th in Heat 3
- 9.77), Isaac Kupiec Boyle (5th in Heat 6 – 9.54), Charlie O’Regan (6th in Heat 4 – 10.03) and
Fionn Thompson (8th in Heat 2 – 10.59).
In the semi-finals, Joshua Conaghan finished 5th in Heat 1 in 8.96 to qualify for the final, while
Lenny Keane Flannery finished 5th in Heat 2 in 9.07, an improvement on his heat time but just
missing out on progression.
In the final, Joshua Conaghan finished 8th in 9.02.
U14 Boys 60m
In the heats, Max Bamford finished 2nd in Heat 1 in 8.68 to qualify, Rhys Daly won Heat 2 in
8.19, and Isaac O’Neill took 1st in Heat 6 in 8.23. David Chilug finished 6th in Heat 5.
Three Clonliffe athletes lined up in Semi-Final Heat 2, with Isaac O’Neill winning in 8.13 and
Rhys Daly taking 2nd in 8.21, both qualifying for the final. Max Bamford finished 8th in 8.72.
The final saw Isaac O’Neill take silver in 8.16, with Rhys Daly close behind in bronze in 8.27.
U12 Girls 60m
Leah Bushell finished 6th in Heat 1 in 10.96, with Megan Glynn finishing 8th in Heat 5 in 11.61.
U13 Girls 60m
Elena Szych finished 5th in Heat 2 in 9.80, Brianna Lawless finished 6th in Heat 3 in 10.71, and
Bethany Hollywood finished 5th in Heat 8 in 10.00.
U14 Girls 60m
A strong series of heats saw Muireann Spence win Heat 2 in 8.82, Daisy Asante Keenan win
Heat 5 in 8.64, Fia Dunbar win Heat 6 in 9.05, and Maeva Edo Czechowska win Heat 8 in 8.46.
Adrianna Madrzynska finished 4th in Heat 3 (9.19), Millie Ryan took 3rd in Heat 7 (8.96), and
Caoimhe Bushell finished 5th in Heat 10 (9.29)
In the semi-final, Maeva Edo Czechowska won Heat 1 in 8.49 to qualify, with Daisy Asante
Keenan finishing 5th in 8.61 to also progress. Muireann Spence finished 7th (8.91).
The final saw Maeva Edo Czechowska take bronze in 8.51, with Daisy Asante Keenan finishing
a strong 5th in 8.68.
Distance
U16 Boys 1500m
In a time-based competition across two heats, Braxton O’Shea produced an excellent run to
take 1st place overall in 4.40.57. Conor Kenny finished 4th overall in 4.43.34, with Mark Kelly
8th in 4.52.87. Joel Thomas ran in Heat 2, finishing 3rd in his heat in 5.03.72 and placing 11th
overall.
U17 Boys 1500m
Ryan Fagan finished 9th in 4.55.09, with Darragh Nicholson Canny close behind in 10th in
4.58.39.
U18 Boys 1500m
Joshua Chalmers finished 10th in a competitive race in 4.31.37.
U16 Girls 1500m
In a large final of 16 athletes, Kate Gill finished 6th in 5.16.84. Carragh Ní Ghiollfhloinn took 8th
in 5.18.16, Alex Wallace finished 11th in 5.21.15, and Ailbhe Clerkin finished 13th in 5.27.80.
U17 Girls 1500m
Lucy McFetridge finished 7th in a closely packed race in 5.17.34, with Ella O’Sullivan finishing
11th in 5.34.58.
U19 Girls 1500m
A superb run from Isla Duncan saw her take silver in a 5-second-pb of 4.45.90, moving her to
27th on the Clonliffe all-time list. Rachel Ardiff finished 6th in 5.37.72, with Hannah Walsh 7th in
5.52.84.

Jumps
U13 Boys Long Jump
James Glynn finished 8th with a jump of 3.80m, while Isaac Kupiec Boyle placed 15th with
3.65m. Ben McHugh finished 32nd with 3.07m, Charlie O’Regan 39th with 2.90m, and Joshua
Daly 44th with 2.44m.
U14 Boys Long Jump
A superb competition saw Channing O’Shea take the title with a jump of 4.95m, having led from
the opening round with 4.86m. Isaac O’Neill took silver with 4.84, with Rhys Daly close behind in
bronze with 4.79m in a very tight contest. Max Bramford finished 13th with 3.94m, and Conn
Feore finished 17th with 3.72m.
U12 Boys Long Jump
Alex Ryan finished 6th with a jump of 3.82m, while Patrick Fogarty took 13th with 3.58m.
U13 Girls Long Jump
On her third attempt, Molly O’Brien propelled herself into 7th place with a jump of 3.70m.
Brianna Lawless finished 25th with 3.10m, and Elena Szych finished 29th with 2.98m.
U14 Girls Long Jump
Muireann Spence narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing 4th with a jump of 4.15m after
holding a medal position for the first three rounds. Aoife Henry finished 10th with 3.79m, and
Caoimhe Bushell finished 15th with 3.57m.
U15 Girls Triple Jump
Hannah Ní Mhuircheartaigh produced a strong final jump of 9.15m to move from 4th into bronze
medal position. Julia Rzeszutko finished 5th with 8.97m, and Nessa Byrne took 9th with 8.65m.
High Jump
In the U15 Boys High Jump, Sorely Mullett finished 7th with 1.30m.
Eoghan Thompson is through to Nationals in High Jump with a clearance of 1.50m. In the U18
Boys High Jump, Matthew Keogh took silver with an excellent jump of 1.70m.
Anabella Kupiec Boyle finished 12th in the U15 Girls High Jump with 1.30m.

Isaac O’Neill narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing a strong 4th with a throw of 7.93m in the
5th round. Rhys Daly finished 9th with 6.90m.
U13 Boys Shot Put
Charlie O’Regan finished 13th with a throw of 5.26m.
U12 Boys Shot Put
A solid performance from Odhrán Kidd saw him take 5th place with a throw of 5.99m. Patrick
Fogarty finished 10th with 5.27m.
U14 Girls Shot Put
Fia Dunbar finished 17th with 6.63m, Grace Keegan 19th with 6.17m, Muireann Spence 21st
with 5.95m and Caoimhe Bushell 22nd with 5.75m. Aoife Henry also gained valuable
championship experience in a large field.
U13 Girls Shot Put
Brianna Lawless finished 15th with a throw of 5.20.
High Jump
U12 Boys High Jump
An outstanding performance saw Patrick Fogarty claim bronze in the U12 boys HJ with 1.20m.
Fellow teammates Thomas O Brien jumped 1.20m for 7th place and Leo Dunne jumped 1.10m
for 11th place.
U13 Girls High Jump
Ria Hobbs finished 11th with 1.20m, while Molly O’Brien finished 17th with 1.10m.
U14 Boys High Jump
A superb competition for the club saw Isaac O’Neill crowned Dublin Champion, clearing 1.55m
to take gold. Channing O’Shea followed closely with silver, clearing 1.50m, completing an
excellent 1–2 finish. Rhys Daly finished 9th with 1.40m
U14 Girls High Jump
Muireann Spence and Grace Keegan finished joint 6th, both clearing 1.25m. Fia Dunbar
finished 17th with 1.15m.

Sprints
U15 Girls 60m
Julia Rzeszutko impressed throughout the rounds, qualifying from her heat in 8.66 and
progressing from the semi-final in 8.57. In a competitive final, Julia finished 5th in 8.43. Strong
heat runs also came from Nessa Byrne (8.87) Hannah Ní Mhuircheartaigh (9.15) and Aliyah
Riyad (9.51).
U17 Girls 60m
Romi Banim won her heat in 8.17 to qualify and went on to finish 5th in the final in 8.13.
U15 Boys 60m
Andrew Low finished 2nd in Heat 3 in 8.44, while Sorley Mullett took 2nd in Heat 4 in 8.45.
Jayden Amesse finished 4th in the same heat in 8.83.
U18 Boys 60m
A very strong event for the club saw Sam O’Reilly take silver in the 60m final, clocking 7.16 a
huge pb, putting him 20th on the Clonliffe all-time list. Mark Murray secured bronze in 7.40,
while Matthew Keogh finished 5th in 7.51 after qualifying from the heats. All three progressed
strongly through the earlier rounds, underlining the depth in this age group.
Boys Middle Distance
U12 Boys 600m
Thomas O’Brien won Heat 1 in 1.56.42, placing 8th overall. Leo Dunne finished 6th in Heat 2
(2.06.09), Eoin O’Sullivan took 4th in Heat 5 (2.05.62), and Nathan McGurren finished 6th in
Heat 6 (2.13.32).
U13 Boys 600m
Charlie O’Regan finished 8th in Heat 1 in a time of 2.02.57. In Heat 3, Conall Ahern placed 10th
in 2.05.32. Luke Stevenson produced a strong run in Heat 4, finishing 4th in 2.04.87, while
Lenny Keane Flannery finished 9th in Heat 5 in 2.02.55.
U14 Boys 800m
Another excellent set of performances saw Max Bamford win his heat to take 3rd overall in a
time of 2.22.58. Isaac O’Neill won Heat 1 in 2.23.20, placing 4th overall. Conn Feore finished
2nd in the same heat (2.29.55). Heat 2 saw Finn McGurren taking 3rd and placing 6th overall in
a close sprint finish. Channing O’Shea finished 2nd in Heat 3, with further strong efforts from
Tom Byrne (2.57.00) and David Chilug (3.02.52)
U15 Boys 800m
Daire Cronin produced a standout run to finish 2nd overall, clocking 2.12.18. Luke Tracey won
Heat 4 in 2.18.20 and finished 6th overall. Andrew Low (2.21.70), Seamus Phelan (2.20.96),
Sam Steenson (2.22.12), Adam Phelan (2.41.60) and Darragh Kidd (2.35.95) all added valuable
performances across the heats.
U16 Boys 1500m
A dominant performance saw Braxton O’Shea (2.06.12) take gold overall, winning Heat 1.
Conor Kenny secured bronze overall (2.09.28), with Hayden Kenny finishing 5th (2.13.18) . Joel
Thomas finished 12th overall from Heat 2 (2.26.30)
U17 Boys 800m
Ryan Fagan finished 3rd in Heat 2, placing 9th overall in 2.18.27 with Cormac Tynan finishing
11th in 2.20.37
U18 Boys 800m
Joshua Chalmers finished 7th in 2.05.24.
Girls Middle Distance
U12 Girls 600m
Ellie Walsh finished 3rd in Heat 6 and placed 13th overall. Olivia Donoghue won Heat 3 in
2.12.20. In Heat 7 and 8, Freya Hobbs and Jessica Legge also competing well, running 2.15.24
and 2.34.22 respectively.
U13 Girls 600m
Ria Hobbs led home the U13 girls placing 23rd overall (2.02.48), followed by Molly O’Brien in
28th overall running 2.04.47. Elena Szych (2.11.89) and Brianna Lawless (2.22.68) also lined up
across the heats.
U14 Girls 800m
Ava Fagan finished 3rd in Heat 1 to place 4th overall in a new pb of 2.31.90. Muireann Spence
finished 11th (2.37.28), with Adrianna Madrzynska close behind in 13th (2.38.06). Strong runs
also came from Lucy Fagan (2.43.53), Grace Byrne (2.49.17), Sarah Thomas (2.49.36), Aoife
Fowler (2.59.89) and Catherine Walsh (3.14.44)
U15 Girls 800m
Nessa Byrne finished 3rd in Heat 1, placing 6th overall (2.28.49). Aliyah Riyad finished 14th
overall (2.34.61), with further strong efforts from Hannah Ní Mhuircheartaigh (2.42.90), Tess
Deegan (2.53.15) and Bronagh Hughes (3.00.10).
U16 Girls 800m
Kate Gill finished 6th in Heat 1 (2.29.87), placing 7th overall, with Carragh Ní Ghiollfhloinn 9th
overall (2.32.90). Alex Wallace (2.37.39), Ailbhe Clerkin (2.38.31) and Sophia Tennant (2.43.43)
also competed strongly.
U17 Girls 800m
Lucy McFetridge built on her strong performance yesterday finishing 6th in 2.31.95.
U18 Girls 800m
Sophie Kernan finished 7th in 2.29.96.
U19 Girls 800m
A strong finish to the weekend saw Isla Duncan take bronze, finishing 3rd in 2.20.84, moving to
35th on the Clonliffe all-time list.
A fitting conclusion to a highly successful championships, with multiple medals, championship
titles and strong performances recorded across all three days. Well done to all athletes,
coaches and supporters who contributed to an excellent weekend of competition.
