The 2025 Clonliffe 2 is launched

Clonliffe Harriers are delighted to launch the 134th Clonliffe 2, generously sponsored by the Kavanagh family of John Kavanagh’s ‘the Gravediggers’ of Glasnevin. Ireland’s oldest road race will take place on Sunday, October 5. Full details below.

Race Date and Start Time: Sunday 5th October 2025 at 10.30am 

Race start: Adjacent to Met Éireann on the Old Finglas Road, DO9 Y921. 
Race finish: The Gravediggers, Prospect Square, Glasnevin, Dublin, DO9 CF72. 
Race / Fun Run distance: 2 Miles 

Race Check in: Pre-race check in at Clonliffe Harriers Clubhouse in Morton Stadium, Santry, D09 XV30 on Thursday 2nd October 7.00pm – 9.00pm 

Check in morning of race 9.00am – 9.45am at St Vincent’s CBS School, Hart’s Corner, Glasnevin, Dublin, D11 HX78.

Iconic event 

This iconic Road Race and Fun Run will take place on Sunday 5th October 2025 at 10.30am. 

The race starts adjacent to Met Éireann (D09 Y921) Glasnevin Hill, on the Old Finglas Road and finishes at John Kavanagh’s the Gravediggers in Prospect Square, Glasnevin. 

This 2 Mile Road race and Fun Run is the oldest continuous Road Race in Ireland and one of the oldest in the world.  

The race commenced in 1891 as a club race, soon to become an Invitational 2 Mile and eventually an Open Road Race and Fun Run. This is the 134th consecutive running.  

Race Sponsor

The race will be sponsored this year by the Kavanagh family in Glasnevin. The late Eugene Kavanagh commenced sponsoring this race back in the club’s centenary year 1986.  Clonliffe Harriers are very grateful to the Kavanagh family for their continuing sponsorship of this event 

Race check in 

Race check in will be available at the Clonliffe Harriers Clubhouse in Morton Stadium, Santry (D09 XV30) on Thursday 2nd of October 2025 from 7.15pm to 9.00pm.  

Race check will also be available on Sunday morning 5th October 2025 in at St Vincent’s CBS School Gym (rear of school), Harts Corner, Glasnevin, Dublin, (D11 HX78) where race numbers can be collected.  Check in opens at 9.00am. Runners should arrive by 9.45am to give sufficient time for race numbers to be collected. 

Commemorative tee shirt 

A special commemorative tee shirt will be given to first 150 entrants.

Public Transport 

The following Bus routes can be used to get to St Vincent’s CBS School, Harts Corner, Glasnevin, Dublin 11.   Buses: No’s 9, 4, 40, 140, E2 and 155. It is a 10-minute walk to the start at Met Éireann from the school.
