Today’s Clonliffe Women in Sport profile comes from Juvenile Throws Coach Kieran Lyons:
For Women in Sport Week, I’d like to recognise Ava Cosgrave, one of our
outstanding Under 16 javelin throwers. Ava’s dedication to her event has been
brilliant to see. She regularly travels around the country to compete, always giving
her best and representing her school and club with pride. Her hard work has paid off
with medals in both javelin and shot put, which shows her all-round strength and
commitment as a thrower. Her biggest achievement so far has been finishing 3rd in
the Dublin Championships and going on to compete at the All Ireland Nationals – a
fantastic accomplishment at her age.
What really stands out about Ava, though, is the way she supports those around her.
She is always cheering on her friends at competitions and is more than happy to
help others in the group with their technique. She leads by example through her
attitude, consistency and willingness to encourage others, making her not only a
talented athlete but also a brilliant teammate and role model.
