There was excellent racing tonight in the Clonliffe club 800 Championships in Morton Stadium. The weather conditions were ideal, it was a nice warm night. In the senior championship races Malcom Kiplagat ran a superb solo 2.00 800. Malcom took on the running from the start, hitting the bell in 59 seconds and basically held that place for nearly the entirety of the 2nd lap recording a time of 2 minutes dead, a new PB to become the 2025 Clonliffe Harriers club 800 champion. Lee Duddy took 2nd place (2.04) with Aaron Murray taking 3rd.
The women’s championship race took place immediately after the men, again not a dissimilar situation with young Sophie Kernan taking an early lead, which she never relinquished winning in a time of 2.23, also a PB. Likewise Jess Gallagher clocked a PB in 2nd place of 2.25, with Ailbhe Murray in 3rd (2.25), these 2 crossed the line neck and neck.
Preceding the senior races was the club U/14 and U/15 800 championship, this was a mixed race of both age groups and also boys and girls. There was a fine race upfront between the under 15 boys with Braxton O’Shea timing his finished to perfection and only hitting the front 20 m or so from the line to win from Conor Kenny 2nd and Hayden Kenny in 3rd place. 1st of the U/15 boys was Luke Tracey and 1st of the U/16 girls was Kate Gill.

U/15 boys: 1st Braxton O’Shea, 2nd, Kenny, 3rd Hayden Kenny.
U/15 girls: 1st Kate Gill, 2nd Carragh Ni Fhioinn, 3rd Alex Wallace.
