It was a quiet enough weekend, with a lot of the current focus on indoors, as always there were Clonliffe athletes on the roads and country in a variety of events. Late on Friday night, two intrepid adventurers, Jenny Johnston and Laura Tuite ran in the ‘Art O’Neill pursuit’, this was a 25 KM night-time run from Dublin Castle to Kippure in the Wicklow mountains, and yes it was all uphill. The race retraces the escape of Art O’Neill of 1592 from Dublin Castle, in that particular instance the Castle wardens gave chase but due to poor weather gave up the chase. Not so these 2 hardy Harriers who finished in 3:03.02, , 8th and 9th placed women and 77 and 78th overall.
On Sunday the Leinster Masters cross country championships took place in Carlow, the sole Clonliffe Harrier competing was Philip O’Doherty who took M65 silver.
