This is one busy weekend! As if the national indoor league final today and the national intermediate and masters cross country tomorrow was not enough to be cramming in the weekend also saw Clonliffe athletes in action at home and abroad.
Sean Cronin ran an excellent indoor mile on Friday, February 13 clocking a time of 4.03.20 in the David Hemery Valentine invitational at Boston University.
Also State side on Friday Gavin Cougle at the Battle Born Classic in Reno ran 6.81 in his heat over 60 to qualify for the semi-final where he ran a PB of 6.79 to qualify for the final. He did not however line-up in the final as he had the 200 coming up on the 14th. Gavin took 3rd place in the 200 in a PB of 21.34.
In Sheffield the BUCS Indoor championships were taking place. Findlay McGill qualified for the 400 heats after running 51.04 in his heat. In the semis he clock a SB of 49.86, but didn’t progress into the final.
Luca Logue Fonesca was also competing at the BUCS in the 60. In his heat he took 1st in 8.87, then in the semi 6.80 for 2nd and placed 5th in the final 6.90.
Luca then took in the UK Indoor Championships going out in the heats having finished 7th in 7.03.
On Saturday morning the Dunboyne winter throws meet took place where Eoin Sheridan took 1st place in the discus with a best of 52.32. Eoin then jumped into this car and drove to Abbottstown where he scored maximum points for the club in the shot put at the indoor league! Simon Galligan took 1st place in the hammer with a best of 57.90 and Euan Canniffe was 2nd in the javelin (46.31).
Also on Saturday Oran Finegan was 7th overall, 2nd M40 in the National 50k championships at Donadea (3.16.19). Anne Lyons clocked a time of 4:36.04 placing 5th W50.

Sunday the 15th Sean Doran took 2nd place in the Enniscorthy 10k, Co. Wexford in 31.37.
