Dublin Juvenile League round 1

Eugenia Bateson: The Juvenile Track & Field Season officially opened today with the Dublin Juvenile League Round 1 taking place in Irishtown.

High Jump 

U16 Eoghan Thompson jumped 1.50 giving him a 6th place finish.   In the Girls U15 Annabelle Kupiec Boyle finished 6th with her jump of 1.35

Shot Put

In the U12 Boys, Alex Ryan took the win with a throw of 8.34 and Odhran Kidd finished 10th with a throw of 6.04In the U14 Boys Shot Put, Channing O’Shea threw 7.67 finishing 5th, Rhys Daly finished 9th with a throw of 6.69.  In the U14 Girls Shot Put Aoife Henry finished 7th with her impressive throw of 7.78.  In the U12 Shot Put, Megan Glynn finished 22nd with a throw of 4.42

Javelin

 In the U13 Girls Javelin, Bethany Hollywood finished 13th with a throw of 9.67 and Matilda finished 21st with her best throw of 6.23 . In the U14 Girls Aoife Henry finished 14th with a fine throw of 9.78.  In the Boys U14, Rhys Daly threw 23.71 for 2nd place.

In the U10 Turbo Javelin, Joshua had a find throw of 8.23 to give him a 38th place finish.

Long Jump

U14 Girls, Maeva Edo Czechowska finished 2nd with her best jump of 4.35.  Muireann Spence finished 3rd with her jump of 4.17. Millie Ryan finished 20th with her jump of 3.35 and Molly Hughes finished 22nd with a jump off 3.66.  Caoimhe Bushell finished 27th and Aoife Henry finished 31st.  Fantastic to see so many take on this competition.   In the Boys U14 Long Jump, Channing took first with 5.14 with Rhys Daly in 2nd in 4.94.   In the Boys U15 Long Jump Andrew Low finished 2nd with a jump of 5.05.  the U12 Long Jump looks like the equivalent to the London Marathon and Ivy Haughey had a fine jump in this event with a jump of 3.06.  Megan Glynn jumped 2.64in he same competition.

TRACK

On the Track the Girls U14 400m – Millie Ryan finished 2nd in heat 2 in 1:08.93.  Adrianna Madrzynska finished 2nd in heat 4 in 1:08.08.  Muireann Spence finished 4th in heat 6 in 1:05.61 and Maeva Edo Czechowska took the win in Hat 7 in 1:02.16, the 2nd fastest time over the 7 heats.  In the U14 Boys, Rhys Daly finished 3rd in Heat 1 in 1:07.56.  Channing O’Shea finished 4th in heat 2 in 1:05.83. David Chilug finished 3rd in heat 3 in 1:13.55.  In the U15 Girls Bronagh Hughes recorded a time of 1:14.13 in heat 1.  In heat 2 Nessa Byrne finished 3rd in 1:04.21.  In heat 5 Aliyah Riad finished 3rd in 1:07.75 and in heat 5 Julia Rzeszutko finished 2nd in 1:05.66.  In the u 16 girls Agata Rychlik recorded a time of 1:13.01 in her heat.  In the U15 Boys Andrew Low finished 3rd in his heat in 59.00 and Adam Phelan also finished 3rd in his heat, in 1:10.88.

In the middle distance events, U10 Girls ran 500m with Zoe O’Regan in heat 1 in a time of 2:07.59.  Louise O’Connor finished 5th in heat 3 in 1:59.87. In the U10 Boys 500m Charlie O’Moore finished 9th in heat 4 in 1:54.77. U12 girls 600mm Freya Hobbs was 5th in heat 3 in 2:09.60 and in heat 8 Caitríona Ní Fhlaithearta finished 5th in 2:11.73.  In the Boys U12, Nathan McGurren finished 6th in heat 2 in 2:12.6, Thomas O’Brien finished 4th in heat 5 in 1:55.85, and Eoin O’Sullivan finished 4th in heat 7 in 2:04.75.  In the Boys 13 600m, Isaac Kupiec Boyle finished 5th in heat 1 in 1:56.41 with James Glynn finishing 9th in the same heat in 2:09.68.  Conall Ahern finished 8th in heat 2 in 2:07.25.  Lenny Keane Flannery finished 3rd in heat 3 in 1:51.95 and Charlie O’Regan finished 9th in heat 4 in 2:06.06..  The U13 Girls saw Molly O’Brien finished 4th in heat 2 in 2:01.30.  Matilda Hughes finished 8th in heat 2 in 2:10.18 and Brianna Lawless had a fine run in heat 5.

In the 1500m, the U14’s took on this distance for the first time in competition.  Ava Fagan was 3rd in 5:14.32, Muireann Spence 10th in 5:22.58, Lucy Fagan 12th in 5:24.66, Grace Byrne, 13th in 5:28.21, Sarah Thomas 14th in 5:33.57, Elsie Murphy 17th in 5:46.83, Kate Alwell 18th in 5:48.01 and Aoife Fowler, famous for her walking competition recorded a time of 6:01.41.  Well done ladies.

In the Boys U14 1500m, Finn McGurren took 2nd in 5:00.22 with training partner Ruairí Donnelly Browne in 3rd in 5:00.47.  Conn Feore finished 5th in 5:01.65.  Tom Byrne finished 18th in 5:50.08 and Rhys Sexton finished 21st in 6:06.23

In the girls U15 1500m Nessa Byrne finished 3rd in 5:08.42 with Aliyah Riyad in 4th in 5:16.39.  In the Boys U15 1500 Seamus Phelan finished 2nd in 4:39.51 with Luke Tracey finishing 4th in 4:45.86, Sam Steenson 7th in 4:48.4, Darragh Kidd 8th in 4:52.34, Adam Phelan 11th in 5:02.77 and Nathan Sexton 13th in 5:38.99.

In the U16 Girls Kate Gill ran a fine 4:54.71 to take 3rd, Carragh Nigfhloinn finished 5th i 5:14.39, Sophia Tennant 7th in 5:19.71, Alex Wallace 10th in 5:21.33 and Geve Duncan 13th in 5:50.23.  In the boys U16 1500m Braxton O’Shea took the win in a time of 4:27.53. Eoghan Thompson was 5th in 4:38.73, Mark Kelly returning from injury finished 9th in 4:48.77 with Joel Thomas finishing 12th in 4:58.78

Very impressive results from our juveniles as they start the Track & Field outdoor season.  Dublin Championship entries are now open on the below link.  Please speak to your coach to agree what events you should enter.  Please ensure that you only enter appropriate competitions that you are competent in and if you are unsure your coach will be more than happy to give advice and guidance.
