In addition to the great turnout of Clonliffe athletes running for the club at the national road relays yesterday there was ongoing activity both at home and away over the course of the weekend.
On Thursday, April 23, Sean Cronin was in action for LaSalle University at the world famous Renn Relays in Philadelphia. Sean took 2nd place in the college 1500 in a time of 3.40.89.
Saturday, April 25: the Templemore throws festival took place, the only results currently to hand Ethan Thompson took 1st place in the U/18 hammer with a best of 56.03, younger brother Dylan was 1st in the U/14 hammer with a winning throw of 37.18. On the roads on Saturday the ‘Another way 5K’ took place in Darndale for U/15 athlete Braxton O’Shea had a superb run to finish in 4th position in a time of 17.04. Mark Kelly, also U/15’s, was 8th (18.10). Also: Arturas Kvietkus (19.19), Ben Power (20.10) and Sinead McDermott (23.03). On Sunday Sean Doran was 1st in the St. Andrews AC 10k (34.01).
At yesterday’s unbelievable sub 2 hour London Marathon Karl Nolan clocked 2:35.16, Eoin Pierce, making his marathon debut, 2:39.34. (Any other club member who competed in London please send name and time to 0879599888).
