This week saw the presentation of the athlete of the year at both St Aidan’s CBS and St Mary’s Holy Faith, Glasnevin. The club has sponsored the Brother Clarke cup in St Aidan’s for many years however this year is the first year that the club has sponsored a similar award in St Mary’s Glasnevin.
The recipient of the St Mary’s Award was Martyna Wneczak a 100m hurdle athlete who was selected by Jess Gallagher and the Sports Department of St Mary’s. The award was made at the annual sports day.
The St. Aidans CBS annual schools awards night took place on Thursday evening in Whitehall. Clonliffe club secretary Stephen Bateson made the presentation of the Clonliffe sponsored athlete of the year award to the winner Jack McDonnell, also a long time Clonliffe Harriers athlete. Stephen also presented Jack with the Brother Clarke Memorial cup.
Many congratulations from all in the club to both Jack and Martyna. The club looks forward to continuing the support of school athletes and developing in the local community.
