Clonliffe Harriers enjoyed an excellent day at the Dublin Juvenile Cross Country Championships in the Phoenix Park on Sunday, 4th October, with a number of teams and individuals securing qualification for the National Cross Country Championships.
The club’s U14 Girls team produced a strong performance to finish 3rd, earning National qualification. Leading the team home was Ava Fagan, who finished an excellent 8th overall.
The U14 Boys continued the day’s success, taking 2nd team place and qualifying for the Nationals. Finn McGurren led the charge with a superb 3rd-place finish, while Max Bamford was close behind in 5th, both playing key roles in the team’s qualification.
The U16 Girls also booked their place at the National Championships with a 4th-place team finish. Kate Gill was the club’s first scorer, crossing the line in 12th place.
The standout performance of the day came from the U16 Boys, who delivered a dominant display to claim 1st team place and emphatically secure National qualification. Luke Tracey led the winners home in 3rd place, with Chris Collins taking 5th. Strong supporting runs from Conor Kenny and Braxton O’Shea, both finishing in the top 12, ensured a comprehensive team victory.
In the U18 Boys, Mohamoud Mohamed Hashi also secured his first ever qualification for the National Championships with a determined performance.
There was further success in the U18 Girls race, where Sophie Kernan finished an impressive 7th, while Ayana O’Callaghan also achieved a top-12 placing, finishing 12th, with both athletes securing qualification for the Nationals.
The club was also strongly represented in the younger age groups, with excellent participation in the U10 and U12 races, underlining the depth and strength of Clonliffe’s juvenile section.
With several teams and individuals now progressing to the National Championships, it was a highly successful day for Clonliffe Harriers in the Phoenix Park. Full results and further details will follow once results are officially published.
