Colm Rooney produced another excellent run at this morning’s Dublin 5 mile championship incorporated into the Lucan Harriers 5 mile. Colm and Ian Guiden led from the off with Colm breaking away before the 2 mile marker eventually coming home in a time of 23.48, almost a minute clear of Ian in 2nd (24.45). Eoin Keating finished 11th (27.43) and with Brian O’Reilly in 38th (30.28), the combined time for the Clonliffe team was enough to secure Dublin team gold. In addition the trio of Colm, Ian and Eoin took the open team win. The Clonliffe women’s team was 4th in the open team category: Joyce O’Hare (35.17), Mary Ketterer (36.52) and Maura Matthews (37.08), unfortunately it was an incomplete team that therefore did not score in the Dublin championship.
Also today Sergiu Ciobanu was 14th in the Charleville half marathon in a time of 70.20. David Dineen recorded a time of 1:42.42.
On Saturday there was a good contingent of Clonliffe athletes in the Ratoath half marathon led home by Ger Clerkin (1:16.43), next in was Jack Doyle and Lee Duddy, both 1:21.19. Also: John Torsney 1:31.02, David Comiskey 1:40.46, Paulette Griffin 1:44.09, Tom Griffin 1:44.10, Brian O’Callaghan 1:46.29, Dave Doran 1:49.13, Barry McKinney 1:49.14, Clodagh Moriarty 1:49.51, Jack Quinn (on a training run) 1:50.56, Siobhan McCarthy 1:52.19, Anthony O’Brien 1:56.47, Darren Hart 2:20.45.
Saturday evening Andrew D’Arcy ran 22.13 in the Dromiskin 5k.
