The focus for Clonliffe athletes this weekend was largely on track and field with Eoin Sheridan’s win in the discus at the Leinster championships in a new club record proving to be the highlight.
Sheridan won the Leinster senior discus title in Carlow, today, Sunday the 24th, with a huge throw of 55.84, this was a championship record by almost 4 m and bettered his existing Clonliffe club record by some 79 CM with his best throw for all of 6 years.
In the senior javelin Euan Canniff took silver with a best of 41.19.
Marcus Lawler took 1st in his 200 heat (21.21), however did not take part in the file.
Emily Jachina in the U/20 100 qualified for the final running 12.53 and was 4th in the final (12.69). Brandon Muchini had a remarkably similar day, qualifying for the U/23 100 final running 11.18 and in the final was 4th (11.11).
Also at the Leinster championships Stephen Harkness won M40 800 gold in a time of 2.06.83. Niall Sherlock also took gold winning the M40 5000 (17.04.24). George Maybury took M70 800 silver (3.14.10).
Edel Maguire took double Masters gold – M65 200 in 30.14 and 400 in 69.23.
