The Rooney Show comes to Dunboyne

Stephen Bateson reports: For the second time this week, Colm Rooney showed his class in claiming victory, this time in the 55th Dunboyne Road race over 10k today, March 22nd. Colm pushed on at 3k to open up a sizeable gap and to finish well clear in 29:34, 28 secs ahead of 2nd place Eoghan McElhinney in 30:02 and 3rd place Eoghan Tottenin 30:19. Colm’s time looks to be an Irish Master M40 record.

Conor Fitzpatrick was the next Clonliffe athlete home in 23rd in 32:20, followed by Declan Power in 66th in a 34:47, Declan also tok 1st M55 and the team was completed by Cathal McHale 35:14. The team claimed 3rd behind Drogheda and District and Donore Harriers. 

First Clonliffe woman in 9th position was Hope Saunders in 36:10. This was Hope’s first time ever racing over 10k on the road. 

There was a sizeable Clonliffe presence numbering almost 30.
