Volunteering opportunities

Clonliffe Harriers will be acting as host club for both remaining national cross country championships of 2026: the National Senior, U/20 and Juvenile (even ages) cross country championships which takes place at the national cross country course, Sport Ireland Campus, Abbottstown on Sunday, November 22 and the National Novice and Juvenile (uneven ages) cross country championships at the same venue on Sunday, December 6.

In addition we are also providing assistance to the Irish Masters Athletics Association with the hosting of the Sport Ireland Campus in Abbottstown of the British and Irish Masters cross country championships on Saturday, November 14.

These are big events all coming close together, so, it will be a case of ‘all hands on deck!’.

The club appeals to club members to make themselves available to provide assistance for officiating/marshalling for these events, for the national championships we will require roughly 40 volunteers, with lesser numbers required for the Masters. If you can help out please send a WhatsApp message to Noel Guiden, specifying which event (or hopefully events), you are volunteering for – 0879599888.

Clonliffe Harriers provides equal opportunities to all. These volunteering opportunities are open to all club members – young, not so young, men and women, cross country runners, distance runners, sprinters, field eventers, Marathon runners, coaches, administrators. Basically if you are a Clonliffe Harrier we need you! Full on-the-job training will be provided and it’s actually a pretty good day out.

It is appreciated that with the proximity of these events to Christmas that people do have other plans, but hopefully you can also squeeze in some light duties for your club. Thanking you in advance.

Nil desperandum,

Noel Guiden, club captain
