Another brilliant day for Clonliffe masters

The National Masters track and field championships continued today with the mercury reaching 24° in Morton Stadium. Once again excellent performances by Clonliffe athletes with national titles and medals being won.

Snezana Bechtina took W40 sprints gold on the double, as she took 1st place in the 100 in 13.13 and in the 200 another fine run clocking 26.48 also secured gold.

Cian O’Loughlin in the M35 100 was 7th (12.95) and 4th in the 200 (27.12).

Edel Maguire added another Masters gold to her collection as she took 1st place in the W65 400 in 68.49. Fionnuala Smith W50 silver (1:20.65).

It was Silver also for David Dunwoody in the M55 400 (61.68) adding this to the gold 3000 SC he won last evening. Darryl Piggott took M60 400 bronze (64.43).

Niall Allen added another silver to the pair he picked up yesterday this time in the M50 discus (33.47).

In the 800s Fionnuala Smith took a second W50 silver (3.04.52). Stephen Harkness M40 bronze (2.08.74). There was a Clonliffe one two in the M65 800 as Philip O’Doherty took gold in 2.42.90 with Diarmuid Doyle silver (2.52.86). George Maybury was 4th M70 (3.14.56).
