The Clonliffe Harriers club cross country championships took place in changeable conditions this morning in Santry Park. Weather conditions were good for the juvenile Championships (see separate report), however just before the commencement of the senior championships the heavens opened giving everyone a good soaking. As has been the format in recent years all athletes started together with the U/16’s completing 2 laps, adding up to approximately 3K, the U/20s and master women did 3 laps, approximately 4.5K and the senior women, senior men and master men completed 4 laps, approximately 6K.
It was a fine sight to see so many club vests filling Santry Park and was also a good helping of club officials and spectators out on the day, a shout out in particular to Tony Murphy, always a most welcome returnee to the fold.
On the racing front, some athletes took the championship more seriously than others with a number of groups tempoing as part of their training with the business end of the cross country season coming up on the horizon.
1st senior man home was Ian Guiden, regaining the title he last won in 2023. 1st senior woman was Helena Butterly, winning the title for the 1st time. Matei Ursachi and Isla Duncan were the respective men and women’s U/20 club champions and on the master front Cathal McHale and Emma Prxymusinska.

After the races all convened to the clubhouse for the presentations and a light lunch. Many thanks to the athletes who took part, to our officials and also to Fingal for use of Santry Park.
