. Stephen Doyle wins the McDonald Cup. Thursday 23 April 2026

The Clonliffe Harriers Grand Prix Series continued Thursday night 23 April 2026 at Morton Stadium. On this occasion, it was the McDonald Cup 4 Mile race on the famous Morton Track. 

A total of 55 athletes took part. To accommodate the large number two separate races were held. Both races were eagerly contested. Race 1 had 30 runners and Race 2 had 25 runners. 

Grand Prix Result – Stephen Doyle wins the McDonald Cup

On this occasion, the McDonald Cup was won by a very popular and well-deserved athlete Stephen Doyle. In second place was David Murphy. Mick Bermingham was third. All three received their race prizes from race sponsor Fergal O’Shea. 

Fastest times

The fastest time of the night, 0:21:44 was recorded in Race 1 by Sean Doran. The fastest lady on the night was Peigi Allen, also in Race 1 with a time of 0:26:54. In Race 2 Mick Bermingham had the fastest time of 0:27:41. The fastest lady was Aideen O’Connor in 0:28:50.

Next Race

Our next event is the Clonliffe2 Miles, the longest running club race. While this is a club race and fun run, it has been part of the Grand Prix for a number of years now. The venue is Glasnevin on Wednesday May 6th, 2026, at 7.45pm. the race is chip timed and each runner receives an iconic tee shirt. The race starts at Met Eireann on Glasnevin Hill and finishes in the John Kavanaghs the Gravediggers (Sponsors) in Prospect Square, Glasnevin.
