James McDaid wins the McCarrick Plate

The fourth race in the Clonliffe Harriers 2026 Grand Prix Series took place on Thursday evening 14th May 2026.

The weather conditions were agreeable, and the event attracted a very large field, some 66 runners.

Open handicap

The race was run as an open handicap with competitors starting at different times.

The start times varied from zero for the first runner.

The final runner (backmarker) started a full 0:09:15 minutes later.

Grand Prix winners

The winner of the handicap was James McDaid who had an outstanding run.

This is James first year competing in the Grand Prix.

In second place was that great stalwart Colm Doran.

The ever-popular Aisling Andrews was third.

  1. James McDaid – 66 points
  2. Colm Doran – 65 points
  3. Aisling Andrews – 64 points

Our race sponsor on the night was Maurice McCrohan who presented the prizes to James, Colm and Aisling. Congratulations to all three.

All 66 runners completed the course.

The order the runners finish in an open handicap determines how GP points are allocated.

The finishing order of runners is here:

Fastest times

The fastest times of the night were Matt Glitz 0:13:22 and Rachel McFadden 0:15:10.

Next race

The Michael Murphy 5 Mile takes place this coming Thursday at 7.40 pm.

Please note the earlier time.

Again, this race will be run as an open handicap.

Finally, the Grand Prix Committee would like to thank all who competed on the night and our race sponsor Maurice McCrohan.

Thanks also to all those who officiated at the finish.

A special word of thanks to Maurice Ahern for organising officials around the course.
