For the first time ever a national road mile was held today as part of the Griffith Avenue mile on the northside of Dublin city. It was beautiful autumnal afternoon with Griffith Avenue looking most picturesque. There was a great turnout of Clonliffe athletes in both the senior and in the juvenile races.
The senior race doubled as the national 1 mile, highlight from a Clonliffe perspective was Niamh Kelly winning national silver in a fine time of 4.47. Fintan Kerins once again was extremely close as he placed 4th recording a time of 4.09. Fintan placed 4th in last year’s Griffith Avenue mile. Fine runs also from Sean Carrigg who placed 9th (4.16), Lee Duddy 13th (4.20) and Tom Breslin 15th (4.23). 2nd Clonliffe woman in 10th was Caitriona Bregazzi (5.20) and in 11th after a fantastic run Sophie Kernan (5.21), Sophie was also 1st U/18 women.
In the age categories Philip O’Doherty was 2nd M60 (5.22) and Fergal O’Shea 3rd (5.26).
