The Clonliffe preparations for nationals continued today at the Autumn cross country held in a muddy, after incessant overnight rain, Abbottstown. The senior women will benefit from the solid performances put in, the team was led home by Niamh Kelly in 25th, next in was Alannah Cooley 27th, Laura Tuite, having her 1st race on the country for 2 years, finished 28th and Julie Larkin 31st.
The senior men, running over 8K, were led home by the ever dependable Colm Rooney in a fine 6th position, Fintan Kerins took 13th just two places in front of Mahad Egaal, 15th, Ben Guiden was 19th, Stephen Cashin 23rd. In the U/20 6K race Tom Breslin has an excellent run taking 5th position, Lorcan Benjacar was 15th with Stas Zielinski 33rd.
In the master men Cathal McHale placed 11th M35, Karl Nolan was 8th M40 with Niall Sherlock 14th. Philip O’Doherty, fresh from his European Masters cross country team gold, took a fine 2nd place, and presumably, a coveted place on the Irish team for the British and Irish Masters cross country.
Next up for the U/20s and seniors is the Dublin cross country in 2 weeks time, November 2 at City West.
In France today Cian Murray placed 11th in the Credit Muteul Donne L’Elan 10k in 33.03.
