Eugenia Bateson reports:The Juvenile National Championships concluded this weekend at a hot and sweltering Tullamore.
Day 3 of the Championships was the 1500m, 200m and various field events. Unfortunately at the time of writing the report (its been a busy weekend), the results from Day 3 are no longer available so apologies for omissions.
Luke Tracey however, was a standout performance taking the silver in the U15 Boys 1500m. Daire Cronin finished 10th. In the girls 1500m Nessa Byrne finished 15th having returned from a months holiday and Finn McGurren finished 8th with a massive 20 second pb in his U14 Boys 1500m. Kate Gill went out hard in the U16 1500m showing her fine form, however the 27c temperatures had other ideas for Kate and she didn’t finish as well as she had planned but her improvement over the past few months shows an exciting cross country season ahead for her. Rachel Ardiff achieved a 2 sec PB in the U19 1500m
In the Javelin Competition, we had Conor Tynan, Conor Phelan and Nkita Karpej compete in the U18 Boys competition, a fantastic testament of their hard training to get all 3 to Nationals.
Day 4 was the final day and we were represented by an U13 4 x 100m relay of James Glynn, Isaac Kupiec Boyle, Lenny Keane Flannery and Joshua Conaghan who finished the 5th fastest team in the country in their first Nationals. The U14 Boys team of Channing O’Shea, Rhys Daly, Max Bamford and Joshua Conaghan had a brilliant race to take the Silver with an impressive performance from all 4 lads.
Apologies for the omissions but no results were sent and are now down from the website, but performances were excellent across the whole Juvenile Section this season and the club has been very proud of the achievements of our Juvenile section throughout track and field. Well done to all coaches and athletes.
Sunday also hosted the B Championships and we had great interest in this event.
Eoghan Creaner was man of the day with a Gold in the U15 Boys Long Jump with a jump of 5.21 and a silver in 100m in 12.40.
In the U13 boys 80m sprint Isaac Kupiec Boyle finished 6th in heat 2 in 12.15 and John Carroll finished 3rd in heat 4 in 11.80. Isaac also competed in the Long jump finishing 4th with his best jump of 4.08 and John finished 5th in the high jump with his best jump of 1.25
U14’s, Daisy Asante Keenan finished 2nd in heat 1 in 11.15 of the 80m through to the final with Millie Ryan also finishing 2nd in heat 3 in 11.18 and a q to the final. Adrianna Madrzynska finished 3rd in heat two and while not achieving qualification to the final, she achieved a PB with her time of 11.48. Daisy finished a brilliant 4th in the final in 11.15 and Millie was 5th in 11.18. well done ladies. Adrianna then went on to run in the 800m finishing 7th in heat 1 in 2:39.50 with Lucy Fagan finishing 9th in that heat. Heat was the word of the day and with a programme running hours behind schedule this no doubt impacted performances in this distance. Aoife Fowler ran in heat 2 finishing 13th in her heat. Mila Webb finished 12th in the High Jump. In the U14 Boys 800m Rhys Jenkins finished 5th in 2:34.05
U15’s – Annabella Kupiec Boyle finished 4th in heat 1 of the 100m in 14.63 In the 800m Aliyah Riyad finished 1st in heat 2 in 2:31.31 and with the final based on times finished 2nd overall.
And so the 2026 Track & Field Season comes to a close. It has been a tremendously successful season from our U10’s to our U19’s. Well done to each and every athlete and a special thanks to all our coaches for giving your time so freely.
Enjoy the well deserved break. Coaches will be back in touch in August with return to training dates but for now enjoy the break – Cross Country is up next !!
