Eugenia Bateson: A fine display of talent was on display from our youngest members. Athletes from our U10 to U14 distance and field events with a small number of multi eventers U15/U6 groups.
It was fantastic to see so many parents out to support and to see the amazing progress these athletes have made since joining the club.
From our U10 Groups in the girls 60m, Louise O’Connor took the gold with Ellie McDermott taking silver and Billie Higgins in 3rd. In the Boys, Senan Blake was 1st, Charlie Amour 2nd and Jeremy OSei Mensah 3rd. In their 300m, Louise was 1st in this race also with Ciara Alwell in 2nd and Chloe O’Brien in 3rd. In the Boys, Senan took the gold, Charlie took 2nd and George Tierney took the Bronze medal. In the Long Jump Louise again took the gold, Ellie McDermott took silver and Ella took bronze. In the Boys, Jeremy took gold, Charlie silver and Senan gold. The Turbo javelin results are not to hand at the time of the report but the girls U10 Turbo Javelin was won by Erin Latham. Other names will be updated in due course. A very busy morning for our U10’s and great to see such big numbers out, most taking part in their first competition.
In the U11 80m Sprints, Nevaeh Dillon took gold, Leah Horgan silver, and Aoibhinn Henry took the bronze. In the boys, Charlie Rooney was 1st, Colin Ryan 2nd and Frankie Walsh Guinan was 3rd. In the distance events, Leah Horgan won the U11 500m, with Ciara Bannon in 2nd and Nevaeh Dillon in 3rd. In the Boys, Charlie Rooney was a convincing winner with Jack Nolan taking the silver on the line after an impressive challenge from Connor Chambers who was rewarded for his efforts with a bronze. In the Long Jump, Neveah Dillon took gold, Isobel Yorgova Silver and Caoimhe Deighnan taking the bronze. In the Boys, Charlie took his 3rd gold, Frankie Guinan Walsh took silver and Jack Nolan took the bronze. In the throws, Abbey Keane Flannery took U11 Long Jump gold, Isabella Yorgova took silver and Hailee Walsh took 3rd. In the U11 Boys Long Jump, Conor Chambers took the title with Leo Costello taking silver and Colin Ryan taking bronze.
In the U12 80m sprints, Shannon Donnelly took the gold, Sophie Henry taking the silver and Jessica Smith taking the bronze. In the U12 Boys 80m Odhran Furlong was the champion with Alex Ryan in 2nd and Thomas O’Brien in 3rd. In the 500m Ivy Haughey had a brilliant win followed by Sophie Henry in 2nd and Jessica Smith in 3rd. In the Boys, Thomas O’Brien was 1st, Alex Ryan 2nd and Odhran Furlong was 3rd. In the Long Jump, Sophie Henry was first, Ivy Haughey 2nd and Jessica Smith 3rd. The boys was won by Alex Ryan with Eoin O’Sullivan in 2nd and Odhran Furlong in 3rd. In their throws events, for the girls, Ivy Haughey was 1st, Alice Hassett was 2nd and Megan Glynn was 3rd. The Boys U12 Long jump was won by Alex Ryan, Patrick Fogarty 2nd and Tom Higgins in 3rd.
In the U13 Girls 100m sprints, Ria Hobbs was first, Aoibhinn Deignan was 2nd and Ellie Walsh was 3rd. In the Boys, Joshua Connaghan was 1st, Lenny Flannery Keenan was 2nd and Isaac Kupiec Boyle was 3rd. The distance of 600m race was won by Ellie Walsh is a fine return from injury, 2nd was Ria Hobbs and 3rd was Aoibhinn Deignan. In the U13 Boys Lenny Flannery Keenan was 1st with Charlie O’Regan in 2nd and Eoghan Delaney in 3rd. In the Long Jump Bethany Hollywood was 1st with Olivia Low in 2nd and Marwa Babiker in 3rd. In the Boys, Lenny Flannery Keenan was 1st, Isaac Kupiec Boyle 2nd and James Glynn in 3rd. In the Javelin, Bethany Hollywood was 1st, Ria Hobbs 2nd and Monnlay O’Brien was 3rd. In the Boys U13 Javelin, Luke Stevenson was 1st Isaac Kupiec Boyle 2nd and Fionn Thompson 3rd.
In the U14 Girls sprints, Maeva Edo Czechowska won the 100m with Millie Ryan in 2nd and Fia Dunbarr in 3rd. The Boys 100m was won by Isaac O’Neill, Rhys Daly in 2nd and Channing O’Shea in 3rd. The girls Distance race of 1500m was possibly race of the day with fine form showing from all girls. Adrianna Madrzynska made the move from the gun and despite the girls packing in nicely behind her held the lead with a fine finish from the 150m where she broke away as they had closed the gap on her. A brilliant run followed with Sarah Thomas taking the 2nd and Lucy Fagan taking the bronze. The girls were strongly backed up by Grace Byrne in 4th who is showing a strong and steady improvement. Great days ahead for all the girls in this group. In the U14 Boys, Conn Feore managed to hold off Rhys Jenkins to the line for 1st and 2nd with newcomer Senna Carson taking the bronze showing there is more to come from him. In the Long Jump, Maeva Edo Czechowska took a brilliant gold, Millie Ryan 2nd and Caoimhe Bushell taking bronze. In the Boys it was Channing O’Shea who took the gold with Isaac O’Neill in 3rd and Rhys Daly in 3rd. In the throws, Adrianna Madrzynska took the gold, Grace Keegan silver and Millie Ryan taking the bronze. In the Boys, Rhys Daly took 1st, Channing O’Shea 2nd and Isaac O’Neill 3rd.
In the U15/16 sprints section we had small numbers for sprints and multi events. Julia won the 100m with Annabella in 2nd and in the Boys Eoghan was 1st and Sorley in 2nd. In the Long Jump, Annabella Kupiec Boyle was the sole entry taking a gold. and Sorley Mullet took the gold in the boys U15/16 Long jump with Eoghan Dreamer in 2nd.
Many thanks to all our coaches who helped to co-ordinate the event this morning, 44 events were held as part of our U10 to U14 Juvenile Club Championships which is a testament to the hard work our coaches put in. Thank you to our Starter, Stephen who kept things running on time on the track and to our finish line officials, Mick Kearney, Sarah Bateson, Alan Fowler, and Lorraine Fagan. Thanks also to Noel Guiden for his photography skills and to Kieran Lyons for co-ordinating the throws events, and Colin Daly for co-ordinating the Long Jump.
This is a fantastic display of our juvenile talent and a great introduction to competition. For those who have not yet competed outside of the club, the leagues are a great way to get a taste for competition The 3rd round of the League takes place on the 14th June and entries close on the 7th through the below link.. Well done to everyone who took part today. It is safe to say that the future of Clonliffe Harriers is looking bright!
