Weekend round up

Whilst it seemed like half the club were competing in Rathfarnham on Sunday there were also several other Clonliffe athletes competing over the weekend not only at home but worldwide. We will start a round up overseas but relatively close to home as Stephen Scullion had an excellent race on the streets of London yesterday, the 27th, finishing 5th in the Vitality 10k in an impressive 30.09.

On Saturday, September 26, Lorraine O’Connor was in action for Providence where she placed 94th in the Princeton Meadows challenge cross country race at the Meadows campus at Princeton University.

In the Berlin marathon on Sunday Natalia Lunga ran a new PB of 3: 09.33. Andrew Eustace ran 3:24.39.

Hannah Browne over the weekend ran the Nike Sydney half marathon recording a time of 1:31.44.

Closer to home David Murphy and Steve Barnes took on theĀ EcoTrail Wicklow is a demanding trail-running event set against the stunning natural backdrop of the Wicklow Mountains. With challenging terrain, significant elevation and long distances, the event provides a true test of endurance, strength and determination. David taking on the full 80 km course where he finished in an outstanding 11th position clocking a time of 9: 09.41. In the 46 km race Steve Barnes ran a time of 6:15.25. Huge congratulations to the both on completing this incredible test of endurance, not just race day itself but on the countless hours and miles put in by them both in the buildup.

On the roads Clodagh Galvin was 1st woman in the Nace 10k, on Sunday morning running an almost 1 minute PB of 41.14.

Also yesterday, Sunday the 27th Ger Clerkin finished in 3rd place in the Monaghan Phoenix half marathon in 78:05.
